This is our biggest headache. Because the
Mexican postal system is so bad, we cannot trust your merchandise to
arrive at all, much less in a timely manner. So we have to use an
"express" mail service. Mexpost is the least expensive one, usually
around $18. The mail goes from here to San Diego where it is then
sent on by US mail to you. It takes from one to three weeks, and has
worked well except for one time, so far. FedEx is by far the best and
fastest method, but it costs around $31. You must remember that these
are international rates. We do not charge any handling fees nor
anything for Pattie's hour-long trek to mail packages. We try to keep
our prices competitive to offset the shipping costs a little.
Also, it costs the same to ship one stocking as
it does to ship 4 or 5, so if you place your order along with a
friend, you can both save on postage.

Because a special order is just that, unique and
made just for you, one stitch at a time. And it just takes a lot of
time to do each item.
We try to keep a good stock of Christmas
stockings ready for the season, and we have several baby quilts and
bibs made up ahead of time. The money just isn't there to enable us
to stock everything already made
up.

Because all our time after June has to
be spent getting ready for the Christmas rush,
special orders really should be completed by June, but for sure we have
to have them programmed by then or we just wouldn't be able to get them
finished on time.

Unfortunately, we have been stung a few times by
people ordering items and never paying for them, which has meant time
and materials lost. Pattie can't pay a woman for making something if
she doesn't collect from the customer, and this can lead to hard
feelings on the part of the poor woman who has spend hours upon hours
working on a project. There is no provision in PayPal payment services
for making downpayments on something, so we have to collect the whole
thing in advance.
